At the beginning of the semester, we all took a survey that matched our class into two groups by the answers we gave. In our new groups we made our team norms to start of the class with a set of ground rules to follow. Since we didn’t know each other prior to the class, we had to communicate with each other about anything we felt was valid in contribution to making the class go as easy as it possibly can. Something that were communicated in the group were that no idea is a bad idea, and to show up on time. A more important norm that we made was that if a meeting or work was missed, the student would make it up to the group by taking the lead on the next assignment or activity to make it up to the group. Also because we are a fun group, we all communicated the same idea for the absent person in the group to bring food to the next class to make it up to everyone.
In the class assignment regression worksheet we did as a group, we had to collect quantitative data from our fellow classmates. We had to communicate to members of our own team, and with members from the other team. It was an interesting experience to communicate with the other members of the other team, because we only ever talk to our own team members, rarely with Novum Orbis. After we collected all the data we needed, we took a different approach to inputting the quantitative data. One person in our group took charge and took the keyboard, letting everyone communicate verbally all their data while that one person typed it in. It was an effective way to quickly get all of our data into the computer and not have to wait around to type it in ourselves. We developed a better understanding of how to communicate in group situations because of this exercise. When one person was reading their data, everyone in our group was quite so the person’s voice could be heard. We communicated as a team, working together so we could go to break as fast as we could to get food.
One of the first assignments we did on our word press was the about me assignment, and all it was, was to write about us and about our hometowns and the history behind it. We also had to embed a map into it and that was quite challenging, but I still managed to put it in after awhile of struggling to. In my about me section of my word press, I communicated to who ever reads my site if anyone ever will, where my favorite place is in my hometown and I looked up and found a bunch of demographic facts about Carlsbad.
